K3 - K4
Preschool
Our Preschool offers nurturing, loving instruction in a friendly, Christian environment. The program is a hands-on, developmentally appropriate academic program facilitated by our caring teachers.
Preschool Overview
In K3 and K4, children are introduced to letters, shapes, colors, numbers, and God’s Word through the use of theme-based activities.
Developing solid readers is one of our major goals in preschool. Students finish K3 and K4 with an understanding of letter sounds, blending, and chunking, and many children are even reading words and small books.
Half-Day or Full-Day
We offer a variety of half-day or full-day programs for children from 3 to 5 years old. The half-day session includes the core preschool program. The full-day session includes the core preschool program, a hot lunch, and a rest time. All of our morning and full-day classes offer an early drop-off time as early as 7 AM at no additional charge.
Entrance Qualifications
Children must be completely toilet trained and meet the age requirements below.
K3: 3 years old by September 1
K4: 4 years old by September 1
K-3 and K-4 Curriculum Overview
We plan activities designed to reach children where they are and give them a life-long love of learning. Many children come into our program with a very limited English vocabulary.
- Develop physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills according to individual needs
- Enhance creativity through arts, crafts, music, and dramatic play
- Understand spiritual concepts through Bible stories and verses
- Explore the environment through observing, investigating, and experimenting
- Strengthen social skills through interaction with classmates and teachers
Language Development
At the 3-year-old level, children develop the prerequisites for learning to read. As a basis for understanding the letter-sound relationship in written language, children learn to hear, reproduce, and manipulate the separate sounds within words through activities and song. Language development continues with the introduction of phonics instruction at the 4-year-old level. Children are then able to apply the sound-symbol relationship to read printed words. The correct formation of letters in traditional manuscript is taught as a foundation to our handwriting program in K4. A variety of themed unit activities further enhance oral language development at each level.
Math Concepts
Bible
Bible truth is foundational to our preschool program. Daily lessons focus on the major Bible characters and stories throughout both the Old and New Testaments. In our teaching, we use these lessons and life-related stories to teach and develop principles to live by.
Daily Activities
Other structured activities in our program include:
- Music instruction
- Art instruction
- Teacher-directed activities for the development of gross motor skills
- Indoor and outdoor recess
- Centered-play activities
